Friday 13th October

We have had another busy week.  Who can believe it’s nearly been a full half term.  Don’t forget it’s parents evening next Tuesday and Thursday and the book fair is in school too.

English

In English we have been reading the traditional tale, ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ We have been using adjectives to describe the setting of the woods. We went to the ALPs and used our senses to see time connectives, (first, next, after that, then and finally) to retell the story.

Maths

In maths, we have been learning how to compare and order numbers.  We have used counters, pictures and digit cards.  Next week we will be moving on to addition.

Science

We have been continuing our work on materials. This week we predicted which material would be the best new material for a little pigs’ house; foil, plastic, paper or fabric.  The children worked together in teams to build some super houses.  The big bad wolf hairdryer tried to blow them down, but the plastic house was the strongest!

Topic

In Topic, we have been learning modelling techniques, using clay.

Finally, please remember to learn your child’s spellings with them ready for a test on Monday.

Enjoy the weekend
