Friday 1st December 2017

Hello and a big welcome back to year 4’s blog.

Can you believe it is the 1st of December already?! We cannot believe how quick this year is flying by. Hope you didn’t forget to have your first advent choccy this morning.

This week has been a very busy week! We are well into reading our class novel ‘The Secret of Platform 13’, which we are absolutely loving!

In English this week, we have wrote our own blurb for our class novel, which I must say are even better than the actual one on the book. The children then designed their own front cover of which suited the book so far.

In maths we have been looking at multiplication and division. The children looked at using the bar model, which is a pictorial way of showing multiplication and division. We then moved onto word problems and used the new method of showing the answers.

Towards the end of the week, we looked at multiplying 3 numbers together. For example 3 x 7 x 5. Some of the questions the children could do in their heads. However, in year four we want to have challenges. So, we gave the children harder numbers, The children needed to use the formal method for multiplication to get their answers. Year four found this work super easy and flew through it.

Impressing their teachers very much so!

Hope you have a great weekend and don’t forget those Advent chocolates.
