Hanging Baskets June 2016

WELCOME TO OUR NEW BLOG FOR THE GARDENING CLUB

The Gardening Club started on 3rd May with a group of Year 4 Pupils and I am sure you will have already noticed the huge difference they are making to the front of the school grounds.

We have been very busy weeding, planting flowers and vegetables and creating hanging baskets.  All of which are making our school environment much prettier.

After school on Tuesday, we made hanging baskets for the front of the school and they are now in place and look amazing.  The children thoroughly enjoyed doing this, particularly using the moss to line the baskets.  Please take a look at the photographs attached to look at how we carried out the process.

We have already planted a wide selection of vegetables on the ALPS, including potatoes, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and carrots.  These were kindly donated by Wigan & Leigh Housing Association.  We are looking forward to watching their progress and cooking and tasting the produce in September.

Over the next few weeks, we will keep you updated on our progress and we will post pictures of our activities.
