SCIENCE

We conducted our own celery experiment to see how water is transported through a plant. We used food dye to enable us to see how it travels.

ENGLISH

In English we have been looking at play scripts, we worked in partners to act out a scene involving a mum and her son who invented lots of excuses about why he couldn't go swimming! It was lots of fun and we really enjoyed it! Check out our photos....

 

RACE FOR LIFE

We took part in Race for Life and ran 4 times around the school field. We were really pleased with our efforts and raised money for charity! Thanks to all parents and carers for the contributions. Check out our photos below....

 

HAIGH HALL

We all thoroughly enjoyed our school trip to Haigh Hall. We learnt all about the History of the Hall from a kind tour guide called Brian. We even got a sneaky tour of parts of the hall that the public aren't allowed in!! We sketched part of the Hall and even had a quick break on the park. Check out our photos below..

We are super ready for our long weekend and can't wait for our Monday off!

 

                                                         ENGLISH

We have planned and created our own poem about a Magic Box. We thought of things we could place in our box that were impossible items to store eg, the footsteps of chubby Father Christmas!! Miss Power was super impressed and they are going up on display in our classroom!

 

 

MATHS

In Maths we have been recapping Fractions. We have been fabulous and remembered lots, What is a denominator? What is a Numerator?

 

TOPIC

In Topic, we have been learning more about the World! We can't wait to make our pasta meal next week. We will be bringing them home to share with you! 

 

SCIENCE

We are learning all about magnets and forces. What is a push? What is a pull? We have investigated with magnets and thought about magnetic materials. Can you find any magnetic materials at home?

Hello and Welcome back to our Blog Page. We hope you enjoy looking at all the fun things we have been doing this week. We have been busy bees and completed lots of work, we have really impressed Miss Power, Mrs Foster, Miss Seddon and Mrs Taylor!! Well done Year 3W!

 

                                                         ENGLISH

This week we have carried on looking at poetry. We have created our own moon poem using similes and metaphors...... What is the difference? We have also created our own alliteration poems.

MATHS

In Maths we have been learning all about data handling. We have been collecting information and presenting the information in tally charts. We have turned our tally chart into a bar chart and can ask our friends questions about our charts.

 

TOPIC

In Topic, we have been learning about natural disasters. We have looked at earthquakes and are about to move on to volcanoes. 

 

MUSIC

We have had a fun lesson with Mr Grimshaw learning some new rhythms, we are already excited about performing to our parents and guardians at our next assembly.

Hello and Welcome to 3W's Blog!

What a busy first week we have had back after the holidays!! We are ready for a well earned rest this weekend! 

 

                                                         ENGLISH

This week we have looked at poetry! We have explored lots of different poems and spotted the features we can see. We all love poems that rhyme and we enjoy spotting alliteration in poems. Can you create your own?

 

MATHS

In Maths we have been looking at the inverse. What does this mean? We have completed number problems and we have been working really hard on our times tables. 

 

TOPIC

We are busy planning a pasta meal to make at school to bring home to you, We are going to be learning cooking and cutting skills and will be using the brand new Kitchen in school.

 

Music

We have started to learn a new instrument. Can you remember what it is called? 

It is a lot quieter than the drums we were previously playing

Hello and Welcome to 3W's Blog!

 

What a busy couple of weeks we have had....... Our Special People Assembly, World Book day, Sports Relief Day and our EGGtastic competition! We are all ready for our Easter Break and can't wait to eat lots of chocolate!! mmmmm!!!!

Thank you to all of our parents and carers for your help- the egg competition display was fabulous!! Well done to Star our winner!

 

                                                         ENGLISH

We have spent the last few weeks looking at the book Matilda by Roald Dahl.

We have watched film clips and completed lots of  writing activities! We especially loved writing all about Miss Trunchbull and we came up with some great vocabulary to describe her, like the word 'menacing'!!!

 

MATHS

In Maths we have been completing missing number problems! We have been using our inverse skills to find the missing numbers!

 

TOPIC

We have been learning about Natural Disasters and the effect this has on our planet. We have a little more work to do after half term!

 

ICT

During our new topic we have been creating LEGO characters and making them move by creating a special programme that gives them instructions. We have really enjoyed it!

Hello and Welcome back to our Blog! 

 

Thanks for visiting!

 

We have been busy bees (as always) and are looking forward to a good rest! 

This week we have rescued Pirate's treasure from the ALPS, we have been measuring the perimeter of squares and rectangles, captured pirate islands and we have been looking at the importance of food groups! 

 

We have even been to Australia and sent a postcard back to Miss Power telling her all about the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 

 

We have had so many readers this week! Keep it up! Lets try or 100 % attendance next week!!!

Hello and Welcome Back!!! 

 

ENGLISH

This week we have started our new book, it is called The Pirate Code!! We have been reading all about Captain Flint and Captain Greenbeard's adventures.

We have completed comprehension activities and written a book review.

 

MATHS

This week we have been working with numbers again, adding and subtraction using a number line. 

We have been busy partitioning and recombining larger numbers to help us

 

MUSIC

We have really been enjoying our music lessons with Mr Grimshaw, we are learning to play the drums! They can be very noisy!!! We have learnt rhymes to help us remember the beats!

 

SCIENCE

In Science we have been looking at different items of foods and deciding which group they belong in! We know that we need to have a balanced diet to stay healthy!

Hello and Welcome to Year 3W's First ever Blog!

We have had one very busy week back at school and we are looking forward to a good rest this weekend!

Miss Power and Mrs Foster are finally calling us the correct names now, we have had a really enjoyable first week in Year 3 and really trying hard to impress our teachers! 

 

ENGLISH

We have been busy writing Super Sentences to improve our writing describing ourselves using adjectives and similes. We have also been 'exploding' sentences by adding interesting vocabulary!

 

MATHS

We are all numbered out this week! Lots of place value work and number line work this week in Y3.

We are trying really hard to remember that each number needs its own box! 

 

FRENCH

Bonjour!! We have learnt lots of new french words. We can say hello and introduce ourselves. We can count to 10 and we can identify colours! We even listened to French Songs!!
