13.1.23

Hi everyone,

We have really enjoyed participating in Wigan’s 5 ways to be great week this week. We have completed physical activities, thought about how we can be kind to others and how this makes us feel, and we have practised belly breathing to help us to regulate our emotions!

English

In English this week, we have continued to focus on The Enormous Turnip story but we changed some details to make it our own. Some of us had enormous carrots growing instead! The helpers were animals too, so some stories had spotty dogs and tiny mice helping the man to pull his vegetable out of the ground. We also changed from turnip dinner to delicious carrot cake or even  yummy chips!

This is an innovated story map.

Maths,

In maths this week we have continued our focus on numbers to 20 by finding one more and one less than these numbers. We also ordered numbers from the smallest to the greatest and the greatest to the smallest! Soon we will be working with numbers to 50. Please practise counting and number recognition up to 50 as much as you can at home.

Science

In science we have been looking at out five senses and which parts of our body they use. We thought about what things we liked to see, hear, touch, taste and smell. Our answers were very interesting!!

Topic

In topic this week we have looked at human and physical features of the town and the countryside and sorted them. We found out that towns tend to have more human features and the countryside tends to have more physical features.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Rose, Miss Sherlock and Mrs Pickavance
