Happy New Year! Wishing you and your families health and happiness in 2022.

What a busy week and half we have had!

English

In English we have been working on the Enormous Turnip story. We started by retelling the story then we moved onto changing some elements of the story to create our own versions. Some children were growing enormous carrots or potatoes instead!

Maths

In maths we have been learning about numbers to 20. It’s really important that we know this group of numbers really well. We have been practising writing the numbers (the right way around!), representing numbers, putting them in order and counting on or back from any number. Keep helping us at home with this, especially counting (when we’re confident, move on to numbers to 50).

Topic

We have started our new topic ‘Town and Countryside’. First we looked at what the town and countryside looks like so we sorted pictures from a town (Wigan) and from the countryside. Then we started to learn about human and physical features. We found that human features are things which people have made and physical features are naturally there.

Science

In Science we have been learning about our bodies and our senses. We could even find the trickier body parts like ankles and elbows! Simon says was a good game to play to check how well we knew our body parts.

In the ALPs this week we used our knowledge of numbers to represent numbers using objects from the ALPs.

Have a lovely weekend
