22nd October

This week things got spooky in pre-school as we learned about Winnie the Witch and her cat, Wilbur.

We read the story and enjoyed joining in shouting 'Abracadabra!'.

We then took the story into our play and loved dressing up like Winnie!

We also enjoyed developing control over tools by hammering golf tees into a huge pumpkin and scooping up tiny lentils into pumpkins pots

We drew about the story and created story maps of Winnie the Witch.  The children's memory of what happened in the story was brilliant!  These are on display in our reading area.

We also explored our creative side when we baked biscuits.  We had to turn all of the ingredients into dough and then decorate our biscuits as pumpkins.  We had to take them straight home that day just incase Winnie came to school at night and ate them!  Pumpkin biscuits are her favourite!

We also talked to the children about what was inside a pumpkin.  We held it to see how heavy if felt and jiggled it to hear the sound it made.  Most of the children thought it would have apples inside it.

We cut it open and scooped out the insides then carved the pumpkin.

This pumpkin survived the carving!

We hope you all have a lovely half term and a Happy Halloween.

We can't wait for the next half term.

Is it too early to begin a Christmas Countdown?? surprise
