28.4.23

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your support again this week.

Maths

In maths we have been continuing to focus on numbers to 100. We have made these numbers in tens and ones looking at the value of each digit, counted forwards and backwards (we're finding crossing the tens a little bit tricky!) and found one more and one less than a given number. We will start multiplication next week so why not try counting up in 2s, 5s and 10s at the weekend.

English

In English we created a new character to replace the Gingerbread Man. We had lots of interesting biscuit characters like the Custard Cream girl, Party Ring Boy and even the Kit Kat Kid! We then wrote a description of our new character for a missing poster. I wonder if anyone has seen the Kit Kat Kid?

Science

In Science this week we looked at wild and garden plants. We learnt that garden plants are plants that people plant in their gardens and look after, and wild plants grow by themselves without help from people. What garden and wild plants can you spot while you're out and about this weekend?

Topic

In topic this week we continued our learning of hot and cold places around the world. We have looked at the world map and located the North Pole, South Pole and equator. We learnt that countries close to the equator tend to be hot and countries far from the equator tend to be cold. We used videos and read information about Kenya, a country close to the equator and Greenland, a country far from the equator to find out a bit more about what it was like to live in those places.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend,

Miss Rose, Miss Sherlock and Mrs Pickavance
