English
In English this week we have been reading the story, 'The Way Back Home' by Oliver Jeffers. We really enjoyed this story! This week our writing focused on writing a description of the martian from the story.

Maths
In maths this week we have started to learn about 3d shapes. We have learnt about spheres, cones, cubes, cuboids and cylinders. We sorted the shapes and even spotted the odd ones out, but it was tricky to remember the shape names.

We will be moving on to numbers to 100 shortly, counting and number recognition games at home will really help us be ready to focus on this.
Topic
Our topic this half term is called 'First Steps'. We will be learning all about space travel and some significant individuals who have travelled in space. We started this week with a brief overview and ordered the events on our own timelines.
Science
In Science this half term our focus is back on materials. We have started by looking at spacesuits and seeing if we can use our previous materials knowledge to make choices for materials to make a spacesuit.
