This week we have been reading the story 'Whose Hat is this?'
This story talks about the different hats that different professions wear. The children read about firefighter and builder helmets, a chefs hat, an astronauts helmet but they were most excited about the police officers hat! Following this interest, we turned our role play area into a police station. The children asked for a 'jail', so together as a little group we used our fruit boxes to make a cell.
The children developed their own basic rules around the play- you can only be a police officer if you are wearing a hat, if you are in in 'jail', you stay there for 'ten minutes', if you have a chair you can work at the laptop. They were very good a being police officers, although Mrs Wright did not enjoy her stint in the cells 
Isn't the pattern on the wall amazing!? Well done to Oliver, Amy and Georgie who created the repeating pattern with a little help from Mrs Rothwell
We also had a little think about what we would like to be when we grow up....
