Friday 12th May 23

Welcome back to our Year 4 blog.  We hope you had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

Over the past few weeks we have been looking at sound in Science.  We are so lucky that our teachers are musicians as they brought in a variety of instruments for us to explore.  There were guitars, a ukulele, a mandolin, a banjo and harmonicas.  We were very careful when we were making our observations and across both classes investigating the instruments there was only one string snapped.  (That was on the mandolin, which has 8 strings anyway, so it was okaylaugh).

Anyway, we discovered that the thinner strings produced a higher pitch than the lower strings.  We also discovered that the shorter strings produced a higher pitch.

Take a look at some of the pictures below.

In Maths, we have been comparing and ordering decimals.  Here's a super little online game to play.

We have also been using this online times table checker (which is similar to the one that Year 4 do as a Government test in June).  We have been working hard at our tables, but we still have a few weeks to get even better.
