Friday 13th January

Good morning and welcome to our class blog for this week. Today is Friday the 13th!!!! Click on the link below to discover why this date is supposed to be unlucky...

Maths - This week the children have been exploring finding percentages of a number. They have been finding out how to find 50% ( divide by 2), 25% (divide by 4) , 10% (divide by 10), 5% (divide by 10 then divide by 2)  and 1% (divide by 100). Then, they can use a combination of these answers to work out other percentages of a number. Did you know that percent means out of 100?

English - The children have been learning about instructions and how to write them. They know that instructions need imperative (bossy) verbs like place, put, whisk, cut, sprinkle etc... They have also been investigating other features of instructions.

Also, this week we have begun our new class novel which is called Letters From The Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. It is set during the second World War and is about a young girl, who is evacuated out of London, called Olive.

Our certificate winner this week is Mia who won for working with quiet enthusiasm AND smashing her previous best in arithmetic practice. A big well done to Mia from us all. smileysmileysmiley

That's all for this week. Have a great weekend and we will see you again on Monday.
