Friday 17th February 2023

Welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been learning using the story of The Runaway Pancake. We have been looking at the differences and similarities between this story and some of the other traditional stories that we have read this half term. Let's have a little look at this weeks learning .....

This week we have set up lots of lovely learning experiences linked to the story of the Runaway Pancake. Each day this week we have played, learned and shared the things we have remembered from the story.

We used our new metal detectors to help us find the hidden pancakes. Once we had found them we had to dig them up and read the word to our friend.

We have also been exploring sticking and joining in our creative area. We have been making models, designing and improving them. We have explored which materials tick, which don't and why and how we can change and adapt our plans to make our model even bigger and better than previously.

We have also been busy developing our writing skills. We have looked at the ingredients needed to be able to make pancakes and had a go at writing our own lists. Take a look at our wonderful writingsmiley

We have also been developing the skills needed to be an artist. We have been learning about resilience, concentration and how to create observational drawings. Take a look at some of th lovely art work we have created this week. We have now dedicated a board to it in the classroom. It has acquired many compliments smiley

We have also used the theme of pancakes to help us with our maths learning. Did you know that if you had 3 pancakes and you added another 2 you would have 5 altogther? We have been showing the answers to these types of questions in a number sentence.

We then used our pancake story to help us with the language now, next and then. We talked about sequencing and the order of how to make a pancake. This is a great activity to try at home and helps with remembering events in stories. Why not try it?

We celebrated Number Day on Friday. We had an amazing time. We explored different numbers in fun and exciting ways. Here we are having fun and learning!

Have a fabulous and restful half term. Look forward to seeing you all after the holidays when we return to school we will be learning all about Growth.  Our first text of the week will be Olivers Vegetables.
