Friday 17th March

Good morning to you all and welcome to this week's blog from Year 6W. Today it is St Patrick's Day. Did you know  St. Patrick's Day is an annual feast day celebration of Ireland? It is believed that Saint Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland, but snakes have never been native to Ireland!

Maths - It has been a jam-packed week of maths. This week the children have been investing angles. They have used protractors to measure angles, made decisions about whether angles are acute, right, obtuse or reflex as well as working out missing angles on triangles, straight lines and circles.

English -  In English, we have moved on to looking at non-fiction texts in our reading lessons and the children have learned about various animals from around the world from tigers to scale insects! We have begun a new class novel called My Brother is a Superhero, by David Solomons. The story is about Luke, a comic-mad eleven-year old who shares a treehouse with his geeky older brother, Zack. Luke' s only mistake is to go for a wee right at the wrong time. While he' s gone, an alien gives his undeserving, never-read-a-comic-in-his-life brother superpowers and then tells him to save the universe.

Our certificate winner this week is Evie for her perseverance in maths. A big well done from us all! laughlaughlaugh

Just a reminder that Parent's Evening is coming up. If you wish to discuss your child's progress please make an appointment through WEDUC.

That's all for this week. Have a lovely weekend and we will see you all again next week.
