Friday 22nd October

Well, hello and welcome back to the Year 4 blog.  We are nearly at half term, and we can safely say that this year has really flown by.  We've been in school for 7 weeks! How quickly have they gone by?  Really quickly we think.

This week we completed our Talk For Writing on instructional texts.  We have worked really hard on this, and this week wrote our own set of instructions on How to Make a Mummy.  Our teachers have been super impressed (and quite right too, as we are pretty amazingwink.)

Take a look at our work, and you'll be impressed too.

Instructions by Enija, Olivia, Isabelle, Evie

In order to write so well all about mummies we had to do a lot of research first.  Our favourite bit of the research was found here on the Children's University which is part of the Manchester University.  Take a look at the interactive explanation into how the pharaohs were mummified.

In Maths, we have been learning all about negative numbers and have been counting back through zero.  Again, one of our favourite ways of learning this was through an interactive website.  Would you be able to answer this          2 - 7 =   or this -2 + 9 = ????

How many could you answer correctly in 1 minute?
Check it out here

All that's left to say is have a great, relaxing half term break.  We'll see you back on 1st November.  Bye for now.
