Friday 23rd May

Friday 23rd May

Hello and welcome to Year 5W’s blog. It has been a funny old week with our trip on Tuesday, French singing on Wednesday and being off onThursday.

Highlights from the week include…

Numeracy – This week we have continued revising in anticipation of our SATS which will be coming up after the half term break. We have been looking at number patterns involving decimals, missing number questions and finding the difference between two times.

Literacy – This week we have had a go at a practise reading SAT test. It was all about superheroes.

CFL – As part of our topic, we visited Martin Mere Wetland Centre on Tuesday 20th May. The children had a fabulous day. Despite a bit of a rainy start to the day, the sun came out around lunchtime.

In the morning, the children found out about the water cycle and what happens to the water around us when it becomes polluted. Also, they had a guided tour around the wetlands.

After lunch, we went off exploring and got up close to the immense variety of wildfowl, otters and beavers and the children were able to feed the birds. Later on, we had a play on the adventure park which had a zip slide, monkey ropes and a climbing frame, just to mention a few!

Please enjoy looking at all our pictures from the day.

On Wednesday, some of our children went out to sing in French at a special celebration morning alongside other schools from the area. They had a fabulous time and came back to school with big smiles on their faces!

Sophie said, "It was awesome singing in French!"

Our Certificate Winner this week is Ellie for applying her skills whilst working at pace to gain an impressive score in SATS reading practise. smiley So, a big well done from us all!

A MASSIVE congratulations to Courteney on receiving her GOLD wristband, this week in assembly. The whole class is super proud of her as it is such a fantastic achievement!

Happy birthday to Terri and Tommy Lee who will both be celebrating their tenth birthdays during the half term holidays. frown

As always we hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the half term break, fingers crossed for some sunshine. We look forward to seeing you  all back in school on Monday 2nd June.
