Friday 4th February

Hello to February and we wish you a warm welcome to this week’s blog for Y6F. It has been another busy week here in Year 6.

Maths – This week the children have been investigating the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percentages. Click on the link below which will take you to a video giving you more information about this topic…

English – This week we have completed our class, Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. The children have thoroughly enjoyed solving the mystery of where Sukie had disappeared to. They have also learned how Jewish people were treated and discriminated against during WW2. The book explored many themes including determination and resilience, bravery, having to leave somewhere to ensure survival as well as friendship and acceptance.

Topic – The children have been imagining what it must have been like to be an evacuee during World War II. They have written letters home to their mum detailing their thoughts, experiences, and feelings.

Here is our certificate winner for this week. She won for completing a stunning home project, which links directly to our history topic! She has made an authentic WW2 Anderson Shelter and added such beautiful detail. The Y6 teachers and pupils all think it’s FANTASTIC!

All that remains to be said now is to have a fabulous weekend and we will see you all again on Monday.
