Friday 4th March

After a restful half term, the children have come back with high enthusiasm levels as this next term is really crucial as we build up to SATS in May.

One of our new projects is to design the best possible model Anderson shelter. These aren't simply to look good but must be designed and built to be as strong as possible to withstand falling debris etc. To that end, earlier this week we explored and investigated how the right shape can add structural strength. Using just a single piece of paper, the children were challenged to discover which curved roof could take the most weight (plastic counters). As you can see, some paper roofs could hold up to 30 counters. Bet you had no idea that paper could be so strong!
