Friday 5th December

Friday 5th December

Welcome back to the  Year 5W blog. It has been a busy week with lots of interesting and exciting activities going on!

Maths -  This week, we have begun looking at division. We have used the bus stop method (or as you may know it, the short division method.) Some of us found this quite tricky as we still need to learn our times tables.

English - This week we have being looking at letters. We began the week by looking at all the important features of a letter. We all had a letter written by Mr Brown, requesting some meat for his dragon. The letter was cut up into sections and we had to work out what each part was doing. Then we drafted a reply from Mr Johnson the butcher. After that, we edited our letters and then typed them up.

Topic - This week we have been sketching Viking long ships. Also, using watercolour paints, we have created our own Viking long ship sailing on the sea. Our objective was to create movement in the water as the ship sailed towards us.

This week in class we have one Multiplication Wristband winner. McKenzie achieved his 3s and 4s. This is McKenzie's third wristband on the trot! WOW! What a multiplication master! Also, some of the class have been working on their times tables and have achieved their times tables certificates. A big pat on the back from all the teachers!

Our Certificate Winner this week is Callum B for craeting movement in his Viking long ship artwork. A big well done from us all!

As always, we hope you all have a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
