The 2014 World Book day was on Thursday March 6th and again staff and children were asked to dress up as a book character for the day.
For the first time this year, Year 1 hosted an assembly to which their parents were invited. The children sang songs, spoke about their favourite books and paraded around the hall showing their costumes. Click here to see the video of the performance.
All the children visited the book fair to peruse what was on offer. The Year 2 and 6 children thoroughly enjoyed sharing the books!
A book fair was open after school for 3 days so that children could purchase books. The most popular book this year was Frozen, a book accompanying the latest Disney film.
Mrs France organised a Super-Star-Story-Teller competition to find children who could read or tell stories using appropriate expression. Winners were chosen and awarded certificates and a prize of a book in a special afternoon assembly. A video was shown of some of the winners reading their stories and Kai from Year 6 was brave enough to read an extract from Little Red Riding Wolf to the whole school and staff!
