Hello again, this week we have continued our Geography Topic of 'Volatile Earth' and moved on to learning about earthquakes. We found out that some countries that experience earthquakes regularly have developed 'earthquake proof' buildings including springs in the structure to stop the falling down in an earthquake. We decided to have a go at this engineering feat ourselves using spaghetti for the metal posts and marshmallows for the springs. Our challenge was to build the tallest structure we could that would resist and earthquake (or table shake in our case).
We found a pyramid shape was the best.
See you again next week
