Some of our activities this week😀

This week in the Sunflower room we have started a loan library, your child will pick a book every week and bring this home to share with you😀 you will bring the book bag back to nursery on your child’s last session of the week for example if your child attends nursery on Tuesdays and Wednesdays you will return the book on a Wednesday ready for a new book. This gives good opportunities to encourage and promote speech and language skills and shows partnership between nursery & families🙂 we hope you enjoy this and would love to hear back from your experiences😀👍

In nursery we do communication groups with the children, they are split into small groups to benefit their listening and attention skills. We do these groups to help develop communication and language skills and gain confidence, this week we role played with the dolls, including a spoon, plate, brush, cup and phone. We let the children play and explore whilst a grown up supports this play, we then ask simple questions like “where is the cup”, “where is the brush” we do this so that it continues play and to challenge the children. We then ask “what’s this” so that it encourages single words from the children😊 you can try simple activities like this at home using familiar objects such as coat,shoes,spoon, plate, cup, teddy. Tuesday 28th February😀

Outdoor play😊

Wednesday 1st March😀 the children have really enjoyed playing in the water play today washing the dolls. We are learning to follow 3 word instructions during play, we asked the children a variety of instructions such as can you “wash babies face” “wash babies belly” “wash babies feet”, you can try this at home using a doll, teddy, or even themselves😀 please let us know if you try this with your child👍
Later on we enjoyed making chocolate rice Krispy cakes but enjoyed eating them more😋
