week ending 10th February 2023

Hello and a very warm welcome back to our class blog. This week we have busy learning using the text The Elves and the Shoemaker. We have explored lots of lovely activities this week linked to many different areas of the curriculum. Let's take a little look together.....

This week in Maths we have been learning about pairs. We have been talking about how we can pair objects up and how they need to be the same. We created pairs of objects together on the carpet and then we sent the children off with an independent challenge to find pairs of objects in and around the classroom. Look at some of the thigs we found pairs of in our classroom smiley

We have also used the story to help us develop our imagination and creativity. We designed and made shoes using lots of different materials and made a wonderful display of them in the classroom. Take a look at some of these fabulous designs. I wonder which one you would like to wear?

Since we have bene learning about the Elves and the Shoe maker we conducted an experiment to explore different materials and to see which would be best suited to making shows from. Take a look at what we discovered.

We have also been playing lots of games to help us develop our understanding of number sentences. This week we have been exploring how many fish are in the pond, how many are out of the pond and how many altogether.  This is a super easy game to play at home and can be done with anything. Take a look at our number sentences. Fabulous work everyone!

We have also been developing our speaking and listening skills through the use of our curiosity cube. We have been talking to our partner about the objects inside and what they are, what they are used for and if we have ever used them ourselves. Great conversation starter!

As always, our learning environment is so very important in our classroom. We spend a long time playing and learning and it is so very important that the children have access to challenging, high quality learning experiences to help develop different skills and knowledge. We are so very proud of the provision we offer the children and as you can see they love interacting with it as well yes

This week we have also been reflecting on the learning that has taken place this half term. Take a little look at some of the wonderful books that we have been exposed to this half term alone. We still have over a week to go. We love reading in our class smiley

Next week is our final week of the first half of the Spring term and what a wonderful week it is going to be. Next week we will be using the story of the Runaway Pancake to help us with our learning. We might even have time to have a tasting session. Yum!

Have a great weekend
