Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. As you may already know this week has been all about The Smartest Giant in Town - a wonderfully warm and funny story about friendship. Let's have a little look at this weeks learning..... 

We have explored some lovely invitations to come and play and learn this week in class. Take a look at the lovely provision and opportunities for learning we have accessed 

We started the week off with a trip to the ALPS. in the story George gave away his clothes to animals in need. So we ordered clothes with numbers on. We started off by chanting our numbers forwards and backwards from 0-20 and then 20-0. We then selected the correct item of clothing and pegged them on the line. 

In the story of the Smartest Giant in Town there are lots of lovely rhyming opportunities. For example George gave his shirt to a goat for a sail on his boat. So what else did we do on the ALPS? We made stick rafts for the goat 

To help develop our love of writing we have introduced a noticeboard to class. The children have loved it and it has been a very popular area to go and explore. Here are some of the lovely messages we have seen written this week 

Writing is a very important part of what we do in class and this week we have been exploring writing letter sounds, letter formation and writing simple sentences. Take a look at this weeks writing opportunities 

We have also been exploring number bonds to 5 and to 10 in our Maths learning. Take a look at the ways we record and learn our number facts. Amazing isn't it? 

We have also used the story of the Smartest Giant to help us with our pattern knowledge. We have created patterned ties and patterned socks for George the Giant to wear.
