week ending 17th June 2022

Hello and a warm welcome back to our class blog. What a super busy week we have had. This week you may have remembered us saying that we would be using the text Monkey Puzzle to help us with our learning. We have explored some lovely new language this week and have been applying it to our play. Let's take a little look......

The story of the Monkey Puzzle is set in a jungle. We used an atlas, the Internet and a globe to look at and identify different countries and those that may have jungles amidst them. The children loved finding out new facts and information smiley

We have also been thinking about different materials and their uses. We discovered that the jungle had lots of trees and therefore, lots of wood. We thought about the different purposes of wood. Guess what? We discovered that we can write names using wooden stocks. Amazing work yes

Our writing is coming on a treat. We have been thinking about and recording what animals we may see in the Jungle. We have been thinking about the movements they make and what they might sound like. Take a look at this lovely selection of writing. We are super proud of the children and their efforts.

We have also been busy preparing for our art exhibition. I am sure that you will be amazed by the standard of work. We all have different skills and we share them and celebrate them with each other and that's what makes us a great team. We encouraged the children to think about what they are most proud of and the contents that you will see is what they suggested smiley

And finally. Learning all about the jungle and animals has given us the perfect opportunity to explore colour, texture, patterns and shapes. Phew that's a lot! We have set up many different invitations to learn this week in our continuous provision to prompt children and motivate them to explore. Here are just a couple....

Next week we will be using the text Tiddler to help us with our learning. This is the perfect story to help us with learning about time. Have a little look on You Tube with  a grown up and listen to the story. You will love it!

Have a great weekend
