Week ending 18th February 2022

Hello and a very warm welcome back to our class blog.  This week we have been using the text The Runaway Pancake to help us with our learning. We have been exploring the similarities and differences between this text and The Gingerbread Man. So much wonderful learning has taken place. Let's have a little peek ......

We have been innovating the story of The Runaway Pancake. We have changed the characters and the events of the story and really let our imagination go wild. This is such an important part of writing and reading and it gives us so much pleasure on a weekly basis smiley

We have also been developing our imaginations and creativity this week. We explored all of the ingredients needed to make pancakes and added these to our role play area. So much fun smiley

We have also been learning about money. We have had to work out and count out how many pennies were needed to be able to buy pancakes with certain toppings. Great and very simple but effective activity that helps us with counting and number recognition yes

We have also been thinking about the order of numbers. We had some pancakes with numbers on them and had to find one more and one less than a certain number. When we found the number we then had to put it in the pan and toss it. Tricky but lots of laughs were had smiley

We have also been exploring different kinds of media and tools that we can use to make marks. We have explored slime, shaving foam, sand and lots more.

After the half term holiday and on our return to school we will be learning about Growth. Growth of animals, plants and ourselves. We are so excited and can't wait. Have a wonderful week and we look forward to welcoming you all back ready and raring to learn.
