week ending 19th November 2021

Hello and a very warm welcome back to our class blog. This we have been using the text What the ladybird heard at the Seaside - a lovely rhyming story by the wonderful Julia Donaldson. As always, I will post a link at the end of the blog so that you can watch it together if you so wish smiley

We have been thinking about repeating patterns this week. To link in with the text we ordered starfish and shells and thought about how many different patterns we could make using the objects in a different order. Fantastic smiley

In Maths we have been using Kandinsky's concentric circles as the focus for our learning. We explored his work and talked about how the circles started big and gradually became smaller and smaller. Such a great activity to help develop our mathematical language.

We also made sensory bottles and added different creatures that we may find at the seaside. It created a real buzz in the classroom and the children were truly engaged in their learning.

We have also been super creative in provision. We made 2d shapes using sticks. The children planned, explored, created and changed their plan when needed. Creating a circle was impossible but a valuable learning experience. Well done everyone yes

As promised here is the link to the story. I am sure you will agree it has been a super busy week in Reception W. Next week we will be using the text On the Farm. We are continuing to expose the children to lots of lovely quality texts all linked to animals and habitats.
