Hello and welcome back to our class blog. What a wonderful and very busy week it has been in Reception W. I am sure that the children have told you all about the text we have been learning about this week - It's called On the way home. There is a link at the bottom of the blog should you wish to listen to it on You Tube.

We have been thinking about what we see on the way home and we are so very happy that no one sees anything like the little girl did in the story - she saw a gorilla, snake and a witch to name but a few. Why not ask your child to list the characters she saw in the story  - a great skill for developing their memory and recall.  

We have also been learning about patterns and thinking about different ways to create them. We used natural materials, Mrs Evans created a pattern using boy, girl, boy, girl and we even made patterns outside using traffic cones. 

In our continuous provision we have been exploring lots of different challenges. One of them was to use an information books and find out about teeth and how we can keep them strong and healthy. We had so many wonderful ideas. 

We have done a lot of story ordering and checking the text to find pictures and information. These are great pre reading skills and help us to track text, understand we read from left to right and to help us enjoy reading. 

We have also been out and about in our wet suits. It might have been raining a lot this week but the weather hasn't stopped us exploring the changing colours of bubbles, what happens when we jump in puddles and drawing around the outline of our friends and chalking our names. Wet but lots of good fun and lots of learning. 

Finally a quick reminder. Reading Books only need to come to school on a Monday please as this is the day we change them. Read Write Inc bags need to come to school everyday please. If you have filled in your child's wow moment please send it to school so we can share it with their friends.
