Week Ending 20th January

This week we have had a very exciting week learning all about Chinese New Year. We started off by finding out if any of us already knew anything about the celebration. We wrote down our ideas and drew some pictures. We then read the story of the Great Race where we heard about all the different animals and their role in the race.

We are lucky enough to have some Chinese objects in school for us to explore. We incorporated some of these into our Maths this week, where we placed them in the balance scales and discussed which were heavier and which were lighter.

We then had a go at writing some of the names of the animals we could remember from the story.

Over the week, we have watched lots of videos of the Chinese dragon dancing. We decided to have a go ourselves!

To end our amazing week we made some Chinese lanterns.

Next week, we will be back on our Traditional Tales starting with the Enormous Turnip.

Have a great weekend!
