Hello and welcome back to our class blog. We hope that you had an enjoyable Easter holiday. The children have returned to school keen and eager to learn. This half term we have an amazing set of books planned to help us with our learning. Each week we will be taking a new Julia Donaldson text and using it to inspire us. Let's take a little look at this weeks text Spinderella 

In the story Spinderella is desperate for some football boots. Suddenly a Hairy Godmother appears and grants him his wish. We thought about what we might wish for. This created a lovely discussion as we shared our thoughts and ideas with our friends. 

We have also been exploring different sources of information. we spend a lot of time looking through books and researching on the Internet when we have a question or want to find out more about something. Here we are examining some photographs we found to learn more about spiders.

We also went out onto the ALPS to check on the plants and flowers we planted just before the holidays. They have taken to their new environment really well. We even fed the birds when we got to the ALPS. We are very excited to go next week and see if the fat balls we put out have been eaten. Exciting!

Going to the ALPS inspired us to get creative. Here are some lovely examples of the observational drawings that we did in class and on the ALPS. We have used them to create a wonderful display 

And finally here is a sneak peak of our work on Spinderella. We have cleared the biggest board in our classroom and each week we will add our work until we have created a montage of work linked to Julia Donaldson texts. Keep an eye out for the updates each and every week. Next week we will be using the lovely text Stickman to help us with our learning.
