Week ending 7th October 2022

Hello and a warm welcome back to our class blog. We have been using the text In Every House on Every Street to help us with our learning. We have had a fun filled week packed full of learning. Let's take a little look at this week.

We have been exploring shapes and thinking about their different properties in Maths. We have been talking about the names of the shapes, sorting them and grouping them together if they have similar attributes. Here we are exploring shapes that we can build with smiley

We have been using the boxes we have had donated to make houses. We have been studying the different features of homes and houses and using box modelling materials to make our own. We have created a local map showing all of our homes. Amazing isn't it?

We have also been exploring addresses and postcodes using home made envelopes in our writing area. We have explored numbers, letters and how different addresses have different post codes. Some super writing has been taking place and look at the stamps. Wonderful smiley

Next week we will be using the text A new home for a pirate next week. Take a little look at the book on You Tube. It is a lovely variation and helps the children to learn all about different houses.

Remember that next week it is our Reda Write Inc meetings with Mrs Woodcock. This will give you some background and context to how and why we teach reading the way we do.

Have a great weekend
