Good evening and welcome back to our class blog. This week has been a wonderful week jam packed full of learning. This week we have been using the text In Every House on every Street. This lovely text celebrates the diversity in peoples homes and how families are different. Please find a link at the end of the blog to view the story on You Tube 

One of our learning challenges this week was to use lollipops sticks to create a house. We challenged the children to choose a design, to select the correct number of sticks and to then make it. This was a great activity to help develop children's awareness of shape and form. Take a little look below 

We also thought about the people who live in our own homes. We created mini houses and added these to the story maps that we created last week. This was such a lovely activity to promote conversation and talking about similarities and differences. 

We took our learning about houses outside this week. We used sticks and chalks to create large scale models. We then did some problem solving when we tried to see how many people could fit inside. This is a great activity to maybe do at home. Pick up some sticks if you go outside for a walk and see what you can make. 

We also set up a wonderful creative activity. We collected boxes and other bits and pieces and then we made models of our own homes to add to a display. Take a look and see if you can see your house on the display. Fantastic work everyone 

And as always, we continue to practise our writing skills both in Read Write Inc and in our classroom. This is a super important skill and i am sure you will agree we are making super progress. Keep up the good work everyone. I am so proud of all of your efforts
