week ending 9th December 2022

Hello and a warm welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been learning all about Artic Animals. This is our final week on this half terms topic of animals and the weather certainly fits in with this theme. This week we started the week off by singing in the hall for the residents of Montrose Hall. What a lovely start to the week. To see everyone's faces smiling was amazing smiley

Of course, we also performed twice more later in the week for our grown ups. We are so very proud of the children for their efforts. It take a lot of courage to stand up in front of lots of unfamiliar faces and to sing and say lines. We hope you enjoyed seeing it as much as we enjoyed performing it yes

The first thing we did this week was to use a map and globe to actually locate the artic region. We talked about the animals that we would find there and used the Internet and books to help us learn more.

We also used sugar cubes to help us make igloos. This is a super fun and easy funky finger activity that helps us to develop our hand eye co-ordination. Have a look at some of our masterpieces yes

We have also been exploring and creating experiments. We froze some animals and then looked at different ways we could release them. We used warm water, a cotton wool, salt and a hair dryer. We discovered that the hot air from the hair dryer was the most efficient.

Next week will be our last blog of our first term in Reception. Where has the time gone?

Have a lovely weekend

Wrap up warm and stay safe
