Maths
This week we have finished off our work on addition and subtraction which we have been looking at. We will keep this bubbling throughout the year and come back to addition and subtraction within 20 soon. We looked at strategies for adding and taking away and made sure that we could recognise the difference when the question was asking us to add or takeaway.
English
This week our story has been The Snowman. We were lucky enough to watch The Snowman during our English lessons so that we were familiar with the story (it is available on Channel 4 on demand if you’d like to enjoy it at home). We thought about different adjectives to describe the snowman and the North Pole.
Topic
This week we looked at the human and physical features of the local area. We learnt that human features are things that have been made by humans, they are man made and physical features are things that are there naturally. We found out that Wigan has lots of human features because it is a town.
Science
In science this week we looked at how we need to dress differently for the different seasons throughout the year. We discussed how in Summer the weather is hot we could wear shorts and tshirts etc. When the weather is cold in winter we can wear clothes like jumpers and warm scarves.
