Welcome back!

Hope you had a lovely half term holiday and are well rested ready to return.

English

In English this week we have been writing our very own colour poems. We had some excellent ideas and are really looking forward to writing final pieces today.

Maths

This week we have continued to focus on place value to 50. We have practised counting forwards and backwards to 50 and within 50. We have also used the base 10 to build the numbers to 50 which has helped us to understand the value of each number.

Science

This week we had a go at using our materials knowledge from the autumn term to see if we could make suitable choices for materials for each part of a spacesuit. We had to give a reason why we had chosen that material too!

Topic

We have introduced our new topic this half term, which is First Steps. We looked at significant events in space travel and ordered them on a timeline. Did you know 32 monkeys have been to space?

We also learnt about Neil Armstrong and found out that he is significant because he was the first person to walk on the moon.

Computing

In computing this week we were learning how to log in to the laptops!

We used the paintz.app website to create some digital artwork. This week we experimented using the different tools to create a self portrait.

Year 1 complete a phonics screening check in June so it would be helpful if they could watch their relevant videos as much as possible in preparation.
