Hi everyone!
Thank you for your support and donations today for BBC Children in Need, it was great to see the children in their own clothes. I can't wait to find out how much our school has raised!

Maths

This week we have been learning about subtraction. We started the week counting out groups of objects and taking them away. Then we practised doing this and writing number sentences to match. Finally we looked at pictures and crossed out to find out how many were left. We will continue to learn about how to subtract next week.

English

This week we have tried to write a non-fiction piece of writing in the form of a report about a whale. We learnt about what was fiction and non-fiction and what our report looked like including subheadings. Then we learnt some fact about whales to go in our reports. Today we had a go at wrrting about what a whales looks like, what they eat and an interesting fact about a whale.

Science

In science this week we have continued to learn about the seasons and this week our focus was on the weather. We watched a weather forecast, discussed what the words the weather presenter was using could mean and guessed what the colours on the weather map could be showing us. Then we went outside to make our own observations about what the weather was like that day.

Topic

In topic this week we looked at aerial views and maps of the land around our school. Then we used the maps to locate our school and Montrose Avenue. We also went on a local walk down Montrose Avenue in preparation for our map work recreating a map of Montrose Avenue.

Have a lovely weekend!
