26th April

Welcome back to Y2F's blog.

We have been working extra hard as engineers this week! Mrs Hannon gave us a challenge to build a freestanding structure that had a base of 20cm and a height of at least 80cm - or in other words we needed to work together to build a tower out of paper that would stand up on it's own. We found out very quickly that it is hard to make a tower out of paper that is strong enough to stand up...

so, we thought about what we could do to make our towers more stable. We could make the paper thicker by joining it together, stronger by folding our paper and more stable by rolling tight tubes of paper to support the tower. After lots of practice and some excellent team work, we had another try at building our tower and most of them stood up!

What fantastic little engineers we are!
