This week in pre-school we have continued to learn about the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Our caterpillars are getting bigger and bigger each day.

We have named them and are taking care of them when we visit them at carpet time each day.

The children have been using their knowledge from the story to paint the items from the story and create their own drawings of the caterpillar and everything he ate!

 

In Maths groups:

 

Mrs Littler's group have been working on their problem solving skills by completing inset puzzles.

Susan's group have been practising counting in rote by singing number nursery rhymes

Mrs Rothwell's group have been learning about subitising upto 3 and beginning to count items using 1-1 correspondence upto 5

Mrs Wright's group have been recording numbers using their numeral knowledge and learning how to represent number through marks and writing numerals.

 

In Phonics

Mrs Littler's groups have been discriminating between different sounds

Mrs Rothwell's group have been learning about rhyming words

Susan's group have been taught the letter for the sounds 'mmmmm' 'a,a,a' and 'ssssss'

Mrs Wright's group have been taught the letter for the sounds 'nnnn' and 'p,p,p'

 

In our WELCOMM sessions

Mrs Littlers group have been learning about prepositions

Mrs Rothwell's group have been learning about plurals and pronouns(!)

Miss WInnards group have been learning about first/ last/ next/ before and after

Mrs Wright and Susan's group have been ;earning about ordinal language through the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'
