7th May

So this week we have jumped onto the orange balloon (May).

The months are just flying by at the moment!

This week we have continued to learn about the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'

We have sequenced the story, created our own caterpillars and explored colour in making a butterfly.  We talked about how a butterfly's wings are exactly the same on both sides.  The word to describe this is symmetrical.  Anika already knew this word!

We also tasted fruit from the story and investigated the fruits to find out if it had seeds that we may be able to plant.  A plum has a giant seed in the middle called a stone and strawberries have tiny seeds on the outside!

Our caterpillars continued to grown this week.  Tyra went into her cocoon first, but now Gem, Ted, Marshall and Bonnie are all in a cocoon working hard to become butterflies!

Next week will begin our 'physical fortnight'.

We will be learning about how to keep ourselves healthy and working on our physical skills.

If your child is attending school on Monday or Tuesday, please pack them a spare pair of shoes to change into (old shoes or wellingtons) and send them with a warm coat, as we will be visiting the ALPS if the rain holds off.
