Friday 13th October

Hello and welcome back to 4W's blog of the week.

Another very busy week in year 4! In maths, we have been learning to round to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. In order to do this, we need to look at the place value number and if it is a 1, 2, 3, 4 then we round down. If the number is a 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 then we need to round up. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/rocket-rounding  Have a go at the game and see how you get on!

In writing this week, we started the week off by looking at expanded noun phrases. This is where we use adjectives to describe the noun. For example the beautiful, calm sea. https://wordwall.net/resource/59638/english/expanded-noun-phrases   Have a little play at this game trying to match the expanded noun phrases.

This week, Katie from the Canal and River Trust came in to teach us how to keep safe around water. The children really enjoyed it and we learnt lots of important information which could end up saving a life. Children learnt that SAFE stands for Stay Away From the Edge. Have a look at the pictures below.

Next week, it is our Harvest assembly at 9.15 on Thursday. We hope to see you all there.

Next weeks spellings are words that are spelt ei but make the ay sound.

1) Eight

2) Eighth

3) Vein

4) Veil
