Friday 20th September

Welcome back to our blog.

Here are the highlights..........

In English we have started to read the story The Gruffalo. The children in Year 1 are able to repeat the repetitive lines that occur which demonstrates their familiarity of the story.

We have started to look at adjectives and we have begun to describe the mouse. We used these adjectives -

thin, long, black, soft, and brown.

In maths we have been looking at one more and one less. This proved tricky for some children so we will need to keep practising this skill.

We have also started to compare numbers and use the vocabulary greater than and less than. As this is new vocabulary for the children we will continue to reinforce the meaning of the words.

In our topic lessons we have started to look at our History part of the topic. We have begun by looking at our favourite toys and next week we are going to think about toys from the past.

PARENTS HOMEWORK CHALLENGE!!

We sent a letter home asking Parents to think about their favourite toy and also to ask any Grandparents. If you have photographs of such toys that would be great so we can look at toys from the past.

Thank you for the work already sent in- if you are able to complete the information please send it in ASAP.

Many thanks and we hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Love Mrs Woodcock and Mrs Folksman
