Friday 22nd September

Hello,

The children have been really settling into their new routines and are working hard to try and please their teachers to earn raffle tickets and well done tokens.  Well done to all of our raffle winners this week. Please can pupils return their raffle tokens, so other pupils can choose that reward too! Also a big well done to Oliver who won our achievement certificate this week for being a perfect pupil.

English

In English we have been continuing our work on ‘The Gruffalo’. We have learnt what adjectives are and have been using them to describe the mouse in the story.

Maths

In maths, we have been learning how to form numbers to 20.  We have been counting forwards and backwards and learning how to calculate one more and one less.  In Year 1, we need to be able to spell the number words to twenty.  We have been working hard to spell some of our number names this week.

Science

We have been continuing our work on materials.  This week we have been looking at what material objects are made out of.  We looked at metal, fabric, plastic and wooded objects.

Topic

In Topic, we have been learning about events in history.  We have been thinking about our favourite toys and our grandparent’s favourite toys.  We have learnt that modern toys run off electricity and batteries and old toys were less colourful and were made from metal and wood.

Finally, homework is to be completed one activity per week.  In addition to this, the pupils are expected to read each night and learn their weekly spellings for their spellings test on Monday.

Enjoy your weekend.

Love Miss Lodge, Mrs Connah & Miss Seddon xxx
