Friday 22nd September

Welcome to our blog for this week here in Year 5W. We have been working hard and having fun!

Maths - This week the children have been investigating place value. For example...

What is the value of the underlined digit?   235,087

Place these numbers in order from smallest to largest...

                  3451          4315          1453          3541          4513          1345

Use < or to complete the number sentence...

                                     15,953                          15,892

English - The children have been learning about modal verbs. These are verbs that show a degree of possibility. For example,

I will go to the park after school.                             You must wear school uniform.

I might go to the park after school.                         You could wear school uniform.

The children had lots of fun on Monday in PE as they were able to practise their bouldering. What is bouldering we here you ask? Bouldering is a more specific type of rock climbing, where the climber is not tied in to any kind of rope. Instead of ropes and gear, boulderers use spotters and giant foam pads called crash pads placed on the ground to cushion their fall. Here are some photos of them enjoying themselves...

Our certificate winner this week is Charlotte for approaching every single day and every single lesson with sheer enjoyment and enthusiasm. A HUGE well done to her from all of Year 5W! smileysmileysmiley

That's all for this week. We hope you have a fabulous weekend and we will see you on Monday.
