Friday 26th April

Good morning and welcome to this week's blog from Year 5W.  We have been working extremely hard as well as having lots of fun.

Maths - This week the children have been learning how to multiply mixed numbers by an integer (a whole number). If you click on the link below it will take you to BBC Bitesize where you will find an explanation and a quiz...

English - We have continued our Talk for Writing topic about Greek myths. The children have read the story of Theseus and the Minotaur and then designed their own story map to help them remember the sequence of events. Next, they innovated and wrote their own version of the story using the original structure to help, but changing the hero, the beast and the location of the story.  After that, they created their own mythical beast and hero/heroine to include when they write their own Greek myth.  Take a look at some of their creations...

We have had H H Kids (Happy Healthy Kids) in school to work with the class again this Wednesday. This week the lesson was about alcohol awareness. The children were amazed to discover that vodka was made out of potatoes! They learned all about the affects of alcohol on the body and some of the reasons that people choose to drink.  Here are some photos from their visit...

Our certificate winner this week is Liam for being a great mathematician. He thrives in maths, showing fantastic understanding, great reasoning skills and making a brilliant shoulder partner. A massive well done to Liam for all of Year 5W! yesyesyes

That's all from 5W for this week. We hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
