Good afternoon and welcome to our blog for this week.
Maths - The children have continued investigating place value this week. They have looked at +1 and -1, +10 and -10, +100 and -100, +1000 and -1000, +10,000 and -10,000, +100,000 and -100,000 of any given number.
English - This week the children have been investigating and collecting vocabulary to use in their writing. They have practised and collected sentences to use in their writing. Also, they have created a plan ready to write their very own portal story.

Our certificate winner this week is Brinley. He won for showing himself to be a kind and caring young man, who goes out of his way to help classmates in need. What a wonderful reason to win Brinley! He was also chosen to win the Upper Phase trophy this week. A HUGE well done from all of Year 5W. 
Also, well done to Casey who represented Westfield yesterday in a local school's girls' football tournament. She was awarded Player of the Match and her team won two matches and drew one. Congratulations to all the girls!
