Friday 2nd February

Good morning and welcome to our blog for this week smiley we have been very busy here in Year 5W.

Maths - This week the children have continued their topic on Fractions in maths. They began by adding fractions with the same denominators. They then moved on to adding fractions with different denominators, where you need to find a common denominator first. Click on the link below to have a go at adding fractions at home...

English - This week the children have been thinking about what it would be like at  summer camp. They have been writing sentences that contain a conjunction (joining word) within them. They use the mnemonic FANBOYS to help them.

For example...

We went swimming in the lake, so that we would cool down.

Before bed, we had a milky, delicious hot chocolate, and a slice of toast.

Yesterday, I played football with my friends, but I did not score a goal.

Our certificate winner this week is Mason for having the dedication , work ethic and commitment needed to be signed by Wigan Athletic Academy. Mason also shows the same dedication and commitment to his learning, ensuring he reads every single night, no matter how busy his schedule. We are all very proud of him in Year 5W. He went on to be selected as joint UPPER PHASE PUPIL OF THE WEEK alongside a Year 6 pupil. Well done Mason and a HUGE congratulations from all of  Year 5W!! yesyesyes

That's all from us for this week. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you again on Monday.
