Friday 4th October

Friday 4th October 2019

Welcome to this week’s blog from Year 5F. We can hardly believe that we are in October already!

The children are all excited about our trip to Martin Mere on Monday. Please can you make sure that your child has a warm coat  and sensible shoes (or wellies to change in to) as it is likely to be cold and wet.

Maths – This week the children have been adding and subtracting whole numbers using a column. This game allows you to practise using the column method to add and subtract numbers...

English – This week the children have begun to look at new text called ‘Elf Road’. It is a bout a young boy called Billy who finds an unusual door whilst out walking one day. As he walks through the door he finds himself in a different world. He is given a warning not to touch anything but finds a golden apple and takes a bite! Suddenly, he feels scared and runs away back home with the apple. After that, he is never able to find the unusual door again. He plants the seeds and grows a golden apple tree for himself but longs to return to the magical land behind the door.

Topic – The children have been researching biomes and climates. They have looked at the climate in the different biomes around the world. They thought about the plants and wildlife that live in each biome and how they have adapted to their habitat. Then they placed the wildlife onto a world biome map.

Science – The children have completed a quiz about plants as well as writing a poem about the life cycle of plants.

Here is our certificate winner for the week. She won for being a perfect Year 5 pupil, for always being ready to learn, always listening and always doing her best in everything she does. Congratulations from all of Year 5F. smileysmileysmiley

All that remains to say is have a fabulous weekend, hopefully there won't be too much rain, and we will see you again on Monday.
