Friday 7th October 2016

Hello and welcome to our class blog.

WOW …yet another busy week for us all in 3F!

In English , we have started looking at a new, exciting book called ‘The Pirate Code’ …it’s so funny! Some of the things we have done include:

  • predicting what we think the story is about;
  • writing a summary. Ask one of the children to tell you all about it!
  • writing a character description for Captain Greenbeard and using a thesaurus to help us improve our adjectives.

Captain Greenbeard -we wrote a character description based on this picture.

We would like to say a HUGE WELL DONE to all those children who are reading at home. It’s so important, just a few minutes every day makes a massive difference.

We have been working hard every day learning our spellings and are looking forward to showing what fantastic spellers we are in 3F as we get our spelling badges. Please help us by practising at home.

In Maths we have been focussing on adding mentally using number lines to help us. Ask the children to show you how to work these out:

  • 24 + 23 =
  • 41 + 36 =

We have also all been working on our 2 times table and are learning the inverse operations, for example:

2 x 6 = 12

12  2 = 6

We have had an amazing time in Science learning about our ‘Digestive System’ in a very practical way. We all loved it …and won’t forget it in a hurray!

In DT, we have continued making our photo frames and been thinking about how we can improve them. The children have had some great ideas!

Thank you for your interest in what we have been doing, we hope you’ll checking in again next Friday.

Have a great week! smiley
