Friday 8th March

Good morning and welcome to our blog for this week smiley

As always, it has been an action-packed week in 5W. Thank you for your wonderful support for WORLD BOOK DAY. The children looked amazing! Here's a picture of the fabulous book characters that arrived in school yesterday...

Maths - This week the children have been investigating long multiplication. This involves multiplying a two-digit number by a two-digit number. They have been learning how to use a column for this tricky concept. Click on the link below to watch a tutorial on how the method works...

English - The children have completed their hot task in Talk for Writing. They have written a description of the events that happen during the Titanium music video, by David Guetta. They have made sure to include a variety of Y5 writing expectations, including modal verbs and relative clauses.

Our certificate winner this week is Rebecca. She won for coming on in leaps and bounds when answering her Big Cat follow up tasks. Well done to Rebecca from all her classmates yesyesyes We all recognise the importance of not just reading, but also understanding what we have read. The Big Cat tasks give us the opportunity to show off what we have understood when reading our book.

We would like to wish all the special people who care for our wonderful Westfield pupils a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY for Sunday! Have a lovely day smileysmileysmiley

That's all for this week. We hope you have a lovely weekend. Fingers crossed for some more sunshine!
