DIARY DATES:
⭐️Stars of the week⭐️
Some of our activities this week
Tuesday 13th February
Today we celebrated Pancake Day by having them for snack with the choice of different toppings. As you can see they went down a treat the children enjoyed making their own choices We also did an activity around this by making natural playdough and letting the children use lemons and limes for different scents to use as toppings, we included our pretend oven so the children could further their imaginations. They enjoyed using plates and pans to flip their pancakes.
Wednesday 14th February
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY Today we did lots of red/pink themed activities, we made moon sand and added red pompoms with cups for scooping, we used scissors to develop and encourage our fine motor skills. The children used good can do attitudes and tried following the lines given on their pieces of paper and then we had red playdough with heart shaped cutters. The children was really keen to talk about the shapes they was making. We encouraged the children to talk about the things and people they love and why
In the afternoon we had the hairdressing toys out, the children enjoyed pretending to cut, brush, wash and style each others hair.
Thursday 15th February
Today we focused on our physical skills by making an obstacle course outside, we used chalk to make different lines on the floor for the children to follow. We did straight lines, curvy lines and zig-zags. There was also a hopscotch on the floor in which we encouraged the children to hop and jump. The children are getting really confident in recognising and identifying some shapes, we drew a circle, triangle & a square on the floor and asked the children "can you jump in the circle" "which shape is this". After this they enjoyed making patterns on the floor/bricks by colouring in using the different colours
In the afternoon we had soil play we hid carrots, broccoli and potatoes for the children to find, we included flower pots and spades. They all enjoyed hiding and finding the vegetables and then talking about them afterwards.
Friday 16th February
At the moment we are really enjoying the longer stories, the children show good listening and attention skills throughout. They then talk about what's happened in the story or what they think might happen next to further their imagination
Over the last few weeks we have been participating in small group time, this is to support all children in the best way possible. Communication groups help confidence and encourage children to build relationships/friendships. The activities/sessions have been really beneficial and the children are responding well to these. After half term the activities will be changing to further their development This terms activities have focused on colours, numbers, roleplay and adjectives including "spiky, shiny, small, thin, big" etc.
